Fashion Store Owners: What Actually Helped Increase Your Conversion Rate?

I’m curious about something.

If you run a fashion store, what actually helped you increase your conversion rate?

I’m asking because I see a lot of the same CRO advice everywhere:

“Improve your product pages.”

“Add more reviews.”

“Offer free shipping.”

“Make your website faster.”

“Add social proof.”

Sure, all of these things probably help to some extent.

But when you’re actually running a store, it’s not always that simple.

I’m fairly new to Shopify, and my conversion rate is currently around 0.5%.

Honestly, I’m trying to figure out what really matters and what is just another piece of generic e-commerce advice.

So what actually worked for you?

If you’ve been running a fashion or e-commerce store for a while, I’d really like to hear your experience.

For example:

What was your conversion rate when you started?

Where is it now?

What did you change that made the biggest difference?

And probably even more interesting:

What did you try that you thought would work, but didn’t?

Maybe you redesigned your whole website and saw almost no difference.

Maybe you spent money on a review app and nothing happened.

Maybe you offered free shipping and your conversion rate barely moved.

Or maybe something really simple made a huge difference.

One thing I’m starting to realize

Sometimes the problem isn’t actually the website.

It might be the traffic.

You can have thousands of visitors, but if they’re coming from the wrong audience, they might never buy.

For example, someone might click a TikTok video because the product looks interesting, but they were never seriously thinking about buying it.

So instead of asking:

“How can I convert more visitors?”

Maybe the better question is:

“Am I getting the right visitors in the first place?”

That seems especially important for fashion stores.

People want to see how the clothes actually look.

How does the fabric feel?

How does it fit?

What does it look like on someone who isn’t a professional model?

How long does shipping take?

What happens if the size doesn’t fit?

All those little questions can stop someone from buying.

I’d love to hear some real numbers

Not necessarily the perfect success stories.

Even if your store went from 0.5% to 0.8%, or 1% to 1.5%, I’d be interested.

What did you change?

What worked?

What didn’t?

And most importantly:

What would you do differently if you had to start again?

There’s already a ton of generic CRO advice online.

I’m much more interested in what happened when you actually tested these things on a real store.

So, fashion store owners — what really moved the needle for you?
